Living in El Gouna: The Spa Experience!
I've been meaning to put this blog post together for a while, and thought to myself, why not organise the pictures sort of like a journey, in the sense of my own walk over to the spa. This particular spa is located at the Steigenberger Golf Resort, in El Gouna, which happens to be nestled inside their 18-hole championship golf course.
You can find the email & phone number for the resort here.
The spa offers numerous services, most of which you can access on a 'drop in' basis. And, it's not necessary to be a hotel guest to enjoy their many services.
So enjoying a peaceful walk in the morning, on my way to the spa... Personally, I go there for the steam room - which by the way isn't exactly easy to find, in the sense of locating one that's just the right temperature, with a near continuous flow of steam. There are steam rooms all over, but it's rare that they're set up just right.
And here I am, just arriving, turning directly to my left, seeing the entrance in the picture below!
As I'm writing this, I'm recalling they open at 9am, however it's best to arrive around 9:30am or so, at least for me, to ensure the steam room is ready to go!
The above, is a short video that I made from inside the spa area, showing the 3 different pools, the two larger ones being heated, but each at a different temperature, and the smaller, plunge pool, is meant for cooling your core, when getting out of the dry saunas or steam room.
There are two independent dry saunas, and from what I've seen so far, only one is turned up, ready to go, and the other one is only warm, waiting for the need to turn it up. Perhaps, one is for men, and the other women? I don't know, but I don't generally use saunas, so doesn't really matter to me!
And finally above, the steam room, which is just amazing by the way. Holding steady around 50 degrees Celsius, up to perhaps around 53 degrees. For anyone who loves a good steam room, this is for you. Also, the fees are very reasonable, at only 20 euros for an hour, which is plenty of time, or just the right amount of time actually, to get a great steam, then relax in the heated pools, then get ready to walk back to town again...
And here I go, just exiting the spa, turning right, walking back along the golf course toward downtown!
What a view, what a place to live. It amazes me how so many people buy real estate here just for the investment, but for those of us who live here too, it's quite a place!
